Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation — Real Estate Commission
Early in 2013, the Real Estate Commission (REC), a unit of the Department of Labor Licensing and Regulation, will transition to a new electronic system for recordation of the continuing-education courses and hours required for biennial license renewal. Providers, licensees and the REC will be freed from the issuance, retention, management and auditing of hard-copy continuing education records. Providers’ completion records will be uploaded into each licensee’s data file. Licensees will be able to review their individual records. A licensee’s ability to renew will be enabled only upon the recordation of the requisite hours and course types. The REC licenses and regulates almost 40,000 brokers, associate brokers and salespersons involved in providing real estate brokerage services in the state.
